Elixir...a band based out of North Surrey British Columbia that consists of 5 members that when together create a blend of Rock/Alternative with an edge of Punk Metal. The lyrics alone evoke a momentary delay, in which one must process a sound unlike any other. They stand behind their talent, and their skill to entertain as well as convey themselves through the music. Upon the departure of two founding members, Chris & TJ, the band began another journey to find the missing elements. This path led them to Chris Shaw (Guitar-2005) whom produced a key ingredient and brought an experience to the previous Elixir, as it stood then, which only enhanced the sound. With a new slate of efforts ahead, the band found it would be essential to locate that last piece to their puzzle to complete their sound. Derek Merrell (Guitar/Vocals-2005) was discovered and being an avid supporter, was acquainted with the sound and mission which was the entire essence of Elixir. In early 2006, faced with the departure of the original drummer, the members were again tasked to find a replacement. In April 2006, the search was over and Jake Wyman, formerly with Chocolate Soup joined the cast of 4 to finally complete what is today’s Elixir...

In April 2006 they released their first full length CD, "So this is Life..." and have been actively performing at Vancouver’s top venues which include The Roxy, Richards on Richards, Plaza Club to name a few. They have become well known to the local music industry.

In June 2005 they were one of the top 10 finalist in the "99.3 Fox Seeds" band contest and again in June 2006 came in the top 20. "Fox Seeds" have been the turning point for numerous bands, such as "Nickleback", "The Turn" and "Yuca" to name a few. Elixir was also named one of the top local bands in the "New Music West 2006" band competition.
 

Derek Merrell - Vocals/Guitar

EXPERIENCE:
Attended Coquitlam Music for 3 years. Has been playing the guitar for 5 years, with many live performances under his belt. Back up singer/songwriter joined Elixir in late March 2005. Competed in the Battle of The Bands at General Motors Place and came in both 1st and 2nd as he was involved with two bands. Playing in front of approximately 5,000 people and at General Motors was one of his most memorable experiences. Also recorded at Mushroom Studios with John Wozniak (Marcy Playground)

Chris Shaw - Guitar  

EXPERIENCE:
Playing Guitar for 10 years, self- taught with some lessons; Been in 3 bands with Elixir being the top 1 of the 3; Auditioned in February of 2005 and joined shortly after (in March 2005).

Jake Wyman - Drums

Experience:
Started playing percussion in high school at the age of 13. Originally schooled in concert and jazz band he developed a love at an early age for all the different genres and sub-genres the rock scene had to offer in the late 80's and early 90's. Thus, developing his influences and style as a drummer. Examples of such influences are Guns and Roses, Nirvana, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and of course out of that era, Metallica. About 10 years later, the old school funk sounds of the 60's and 70's were responsible for Jake developing his style of play to what it is today,... applying funky rhythms with hard hitting sound. Recently was on a tour in Indonesia as the fill in drummer for The Flairs playing to a festival crowd of 30, 000 - 100,000 people daily.

Equipment:
Vintage 5 piece Kenwood (Aoyette) drum set which he has had since he was 15.

Jason Scannell - Drums

EXPERIENCE:
A.K.A Skinny, has been there from the start. rocking the bass for Elixir. Back in high school Jason learned his skills thru concert/jazz band courses, and from his dad Muttley.
INFLUENCES:
- Les Claypool (Primus)
- Sam Rivers (Limp Bizkit)
- Tim Commerford (Rage Against the Machine)
These influences bring a hard funk aspect to elixir’s rhythms. He hopes to one day make it into the limelight and rock the stages all over the globe

- SWR + 8-10 CAB, Ibanez ergodyne 4 string, Jackson 4 string, BOSS Chromatic Tuner +Dunlop Yellows.,Ernie Ball Super Slinky’s.
 

Ross Archibald - Lead Vocals

EXPERIENCE:
B.C. Honour Choir; 1st year music Douglas College; Vocal jazz, one of the only two remaining original members of Elixir
(Mary Hansen); Choir(s).
